Castelconturbia Golf Club – Championship Golf Near Lake Maggiore
Set against the scenic backdrop of Monte Rosa and surrounded by centuries-old forests, Castelconturbia Golf Club is one of the finest golf destinations in Europe. Originally home to a course in 1898, today’s 27-hole layout was entirely designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., blending perfectly into the natural landscape of Piedmont, just a short drive from Lake Maggiore.

A Masterpiece by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The gently rolling terrain, flowing streams, and natural ponds create a dynamic course that is as visually stunning as it is technically challenging. Castelconturbia features three 9-hole courses – Red, Yellow, and Blue – which can be combined in different ways for a variety of play. The Yellow and Blue courses hosted the Italian Open in 1991 and 1998, confirming the club’s international prestige.

A Strategic Challenge for All Levels
Each hole offers a unique test, with deceptive fairways, large greens, and tricky slopes demanding precision and smart decision-making. Hole 7 of the Yellow course is a standout: a breathtaking par 4 through pines and oaks, ending on a pond-side green visible from the clubhouse terrace – especially magical when lit at night.

A Complete Golf Experience
The club also offers top-tier amenities: a spacious and elegant Club House with guest rooms, fine dining, a swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, and a complete practice area with driving range and two putting greens. Everything is within walking distance, making it a perfect retreat for golfers seeking comfort and competition in equal measure.

Comment from Peugeot Golf Guide
Although the three 9 hole courses can be combined to produce different layouts, the blue and yellow courses were the two chosen for the Italian Open in 1998. The hallmark of Robert Trent Jones is omnipresent, and not only in the jagged sand traps. The strategic aspect is particularly important, and watch out for the deceiving width of fairways.Remember, too, that there is always the right side from which to attack greens in the best position, especially since the greens in question are pretty huge with diabolical slopes and breaks; Golf here consists in cutting out mistakes and in stopping short of all-out attack. Castelconturbia requires a lot of thought and the ability to turn thought into deed, so inexperienced players will find it hard going. The course is on the flat side, although some of the raised greens require special care. A superb resort, not to be missed.
