Founded
in 1971, La Pinetina Golf Club is located in the proximity of Lake Como. It covers 158
acres of Tradate-Appiano Gentile parkland in wonderfully unspoilt
countryside. In 1982 the entire complex was purchased by the members and
considerable structural and technical modernization has been carried
out to bring the course to a high standard of perfection: bunkers were
extended, greens re-laid, etc.

Lake Como is a mere fifteen kilometres down the road. Lovers of history and architecture will appreciate the weal of Duomo, built during 14th
century and the Romanesque sobriety of the Basilica di Sant'Abbondio and
San Fedele. Then it is on to the peace and quiet of La Pinetina, a
course designed by John Harris and Gianni Albertini over two stages and
hilly terrain which results in this being a tiring course to walk (buggy
recommended).
The good thing, naturally, is the magnificent view over
the mountains. As its name would suggest, the fairways here are lined
with pine-trees and wayward balls will need bending back to the short
stuff. Then a few water hazard make life a little difficult, as well.
After several rounds here, you have a clearer insight into this rather
tricky layout and you can even think about carding a good score and
having a great day's golfing in the process.
