This course is located off the tourist trail, except during the period of Palio or the Wine Festival in Asti (September). But starting out from Turin, you can also take the Monferrato road with its castles and taste all the wines of Piedmont, including the famous Barolo and Barbera. On such an occasion or during a business trip a visit to Margara is time well spent. There are four combinable 9-hole courses, designed by the professional player Agostino Reale and Glauco Lolli Ghetti, son of the proprietor of this former farming estate. The course is a little hilly and so calls for careful club selection. Hazards are standard affairs with some slightly unimaginative bunkering and one curiosity at the 11th hole where the green is completely surrounded by a ditch.
