Le Querce is a course lined with oak-trees, which was opened in 1990 as a national golf centre for the Italian Golf Federation but also as a private club. The hosting of the world Cup here in 1991 highlighted the course's many qualities, but the not-so-good players can handle this okay as long they keep well away from the back tees. Playing from the tips is a very demanding experience for both power and precision. This is a very open course, though, and game strategy with respect to the dangers and hazards is clear enough. The sloping terrain calls for thoughtful club selection, because while the greens are on the large side, they are well guarded and steeply contoured; putting here is never easy if you are too far from the hole. To finish, make a note of two stretches which can make or break your card: 4 through 6 and 13 through 15... two "Amen Corners" and a natural state of affairs being so close to the Holy City
