The
Versilia Golf Club, designed by John Harris with the help of Marco Croze, is a
72 par course. The course is suitable both for amateurs and professionals due
to the placing of its tees. The 18 holes are developed on an area of about 53
hectares and unwind over 5,878 meters and leave available area for a covered
driving range and putting greens. The characteristics of this golf course are
not usually found in Italy. In fact, they are more common in the States,
especially in the Southern states such as Florida. This is due to the abundant
presence of water in this area. For this reason, many holes are concerned with
water obstacles, and not just small ponds, but also vast surfaces which can
remarkably affect the play. Due to a particular choice of trees and plants, the
setting looks natural, not forced.
